Prepare the Baking Dish: Lightly grease a baking dish with a bit of butter or a non-stick cooking spray. This prevents the sandwiches from sticking and makes clean-up easier.
Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay out 6 slices of bread on a flat surface. Place a slice of cheese on each, followed by a slice of ham. If your ham slices are large, you can fold them to fit the bread. Top the ham with another slice of cheese and then cover with the remaining slices of bread to form sandwiches.
Whisk Eggs and Milk: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt until well combined. If you’re adding any extra seasonings, whisk them in now.
Dip the Sandwiches: One by one, gently dip both sides of each sandwich in the egg and milk mixture, allowing the bread to soak up some of the liquid without becoming too soggy.
Arrange in Baking Dish: Place the dipped sandwiches in the prepared baking dish. They should fit snugly. Pour any remaining egg mixture over the sandwiches.
