Vegan Caramelized Onion Tart

Prepare the Crust:
In a food processor, combine the flour, vegan butter, and salt. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the ice-cold water and pulse until the dough comes together.
Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Caramelize the Onions:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and golden brown.
Optionally, sprinkle sugar over the onions to aid caramelization. Season with salt and pepper.
If using, add balsamic vinegar and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll Out the Dough:
On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit your tart pan. Transfer the rolled-out dough to the tart pan and press it into the bottom and sides.
Assemble the Tart:
Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the prepared crust. If desired, sprinkle vegan cheese on top.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden and the onions are slightly crispy.
Serve:
Allow the tart to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
